What is the role?

Michaels Energy is seeking an energy efficiency professional to lead our work in the Denver, Colorado area. This position will provide engineering and energy efficiency program support for large commercial facilities as well as client management support and business development.

Technical tasks include assisting utility customers with implementing strategic energy management plans, field investigations to assist customers with identifying and implementing energy saving measures, and analysis of energy savings using regression modeling techniques. 

In addition to engineering work described above, this role will support current client management and business development with prospective clients. The role will fulfill immediate needs for local presence and engineering support for existing projects. This role will immerse themselves in the local market and attend local industry events.

After 3 months, you have…..

  • Learned how the company conducts energy engineering and business practices
  • Been introduced to key client contacts in Colorado
  • Led monthly customer calls to track the implementation status of identified efficiency measures
  • Taken ownership of Colorado energy efficiency projects, and provide regular status reports to clients and management

After 6 months, you have.....

  • Successfully completed customer site visits on your own
  • Created regression models to quantify energy savings achieved by customers
  • Recruited new customers into the efficiency programs we help support
  • Developed a working relationship with our utility product managers
  • Attended at least three local industry events

Qualifications

  • Four year degree, preferably in mechanical, chemical or building systems engineering
  • Five or more years’ experience combining any of the following
    • Strategic energy management and continuous improvement
    • Project or client management
    • Energy efficiency industry – e.g., utilities or performance contracting
    • Systems commissioning and troubleshooting
    • HVAC or related sales – equipment, contractor, architect and engineering firms
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred but not required
  • Thrives on meeting people, building relationships, and customer satisfaction
  • Lifetime self-learner
  • Deep interest in energy, systems, and process efficiency, and improving productivity

Travel

  • 25% - 30% local travel
  •  Occasional travel to headquarters in La Crosse, Wisconsin will be required
